Mátyás Regyep started studying trumpet at the Béla Bartók Music School in Vác, as a student of Jenő Kápolnai. His preparation for the conservatory was helped by Csaba Szabó at the Annie Fischer Music School in the 13th district, from where he was admitted to the Leó Weiner Music High School, where his teacher was András Kis. After graduation, he studied at the University of Music and Performance Arts Stuttgart in the class of Prof. Wolfgang Bauer.

He was an academician at the Stuttgart State Opera, had an internship position at the Pfalztheater in Kaiserslautern, and was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra.

In the 2022/23 season he returned to the Kaiserslautern Pfalztheater on a temporary contract, this time as principal trumpet. Since August 2023 he is a member of the Hagen Philharmonic Orchestra and Theatre as principal trumpet.
