Szabolcs Katona
Trombone

Szabolcs Katona was born on March 10, 1997 in Mohács (Hungary), where he spent all his childhood. From 2004, he studied at the Schneider Lajos Music School in Mohács with József Dobos.

Szabolcs started with the trumpet first, two years later he switched to euphonium, and then with the age 12 he started to play the trombone. Szabolcs has won three national competitions in Hungary, one with eufonium (2009) and two with trombone (2012,2015). He got many important musical impulses through workshops and lessons.

 

Lessons with Christhard Gössling, Oliver Siefert, Tomer Maschkowski, Sándor Szabó, Dietmar Küblböck and Daniel Perpiñan also expanded Szabolcs musical education.
Since the winter semester 2016, he has been studying in the class of Prof. Jonas Bylund at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover.

 

Szabolcs is particularly enthusiastic about chamber music and orchestral, but also for solo performances. For many years he was a member of the Mohács-Palotabozsok-Somberek youth wind orchestra. With this orchestra has been through numerous orchestral trips to France, Germany, and Belgium. In 2012 he won 3rd prize at the Alba Regia Chamber Music Competition with Danube Brass Sextet.

He has had constant appearances with the Hannover Trombone Class (such as: Lower Saxony State Prize, opening of the New planning room in Hanover, etc.)

 

His important appearances included: Dark Room project with Orchester im Treppenhaus, Lower Saxony Music Days Opening Concert with soloist Alice Sara Ott and with the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie, Audi Open Air Concert with Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt. Szabolcs often plays with the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Wernigerode, Orchester im Treppenhaus, Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt and with the Philharmonic Volkswagen Orchestra.
